This area of the sky is generally the darkest and clearest, where there is less effective atmospheric thickness, and less skyglow. The extra magnification of the spotting scope can be helpful for picking out smaller DSOs and galaxies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"1080\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1352 \/ 1080;\" width=\"1352\" controls src=\"https:\/\/milkywaylounge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/fieldscope-tour-high.mp4\"><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">High magnification zenith viewing with a binocular chair<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:clamp(0.984rem, 0.984rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.86), 1.5rem);\">Setup:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beforehand, a couple of easy one-time <a href=\"https:\/\/milkywaylounge.com\/?p=1387\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">coarse adjustments<\/a> were made to accommodate the spotting scope on the bino-chair. Later when doing the actual observing at night, no coarse adjusting will be needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:clamp(0.984rem, 0.984rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.86), 1.5rem);\">Operation:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After settling into the bino-chair, the spotting scope is brought into the best eye position, using the teeter and cradle. This eye positioning is maintained very well later when the chair is tilted fully back. The viewing elevation can be finely tuned with the teeter\/cradle. For panning, the other hand lightly pushes the drive wheel.
