A quick 360° x 90° binocular chair tour with a 20-60x fieldscope: a video

Using a binocular chair, this video shows some of the preparation being done for a “Messier marathon”. This is an attempt to see as many Messier objects as possible on the same night. The extra magnification of the zooming fieldscope can be helpful for picking out faint galaxies.

Transcript: Here’s a quick 360° tour at low elevation, and then at high elevation, using a fieldscope which can zoom from 20x to 60x. After settling in, adjust the cradle for the best eye position to the fieldscope. While panning with one hand, shift the elevation with the teeter and with the cradle. You can let your hands go at any time. The backrest can be tilted back for a similar high elevation tour. When looking at a chart or at an app, the teeter can be pushed up out of the way.
